Method of Selecting Prospective Students

For the master’s program, a written examination of scholastic abilities and an oral examination are administered. For students with excellent grades, only an oral examination is required. Early admission of 3rd-year undergraduates is determined based on the written examination. Regarding these examinations, no distinction is made between YNU students and other students. For international students, a written examination and an oral examination are required. The decision about whether to accept a international students is also based on an assessment of the student’s study plan by a supervisory instructor. For adult applicants, special selection is carried out. For the doctoral program, an oral examination is conducted for students from the Graduate School of Engineering’s master’s program, while a written examination of scholastic abilities is required for other applicants, although special selection is carried out for adults.

Educational Method and Curriculum

The syllabus is divided into basic classes, specialized basic classes, and specialized classes. The basic classes include: basic subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and information processing; specialized but interdisciplinary subjects that apply to different divisions; and subjects that are likely to become increasingly important in engineering in the future, such as new sciences, foreign languages, ethics, and entrepreneurship. The specialized basic classes are interdisciplinary subjects within a division that are meant to cultivate a broad perspective.
